L’enorme attesa e le entusiasti aspettative riguardo al debutto in LP di James Blake si sono rivelate fondate: dopo un paio di EP come CMYK (cosa? dubstep? cos’è?) e Klavierwerke, (un pomeriggio di sussurri registrati sotto una volta a botte, arrivando a toccare certi argomenti Basic Channel), e sopratutto dopo il video di Limit to Your Love, il nostro giovane soulman possiede la Chiave che spalanca i cuori.
Fresco ed intimo, organico ed etereo, distilla un suono fragrante di cui si sentiva il bisogno, astro brillante in questo recente recupero del trip-hop (uso questo titolo solo per intenderci, in realtà c’è sempre stato molto di più): ambienti introspettivi si spandono e si abbracciano inauditamente per nuove forme canzone, dal glitch al gospel, impiegando un esteso bouquet strumentale, piano, vocoder, autotune, organetti 8bit. È più vicino James Blake a Dio che non il Papa.
Spero – ma non vorrei – che questo sia già il disco del decennio – altrimenti sai che noia, altri nove anni… Tener presente che nella settimana scorsa la Universal ha deciso di provvedere alla distribuzione di questo disco negli Stati Uniti, precedentemente scoperti.
