Rise Above Artworks
Perche mai raccontarvi con tanti giri di parole quello che fa Marcello Crescenzi, in arte Rise Above, quando può benissimo farlo lui con le sue parole? Cosa molto piu’ genuina e sincera. Come lui, semplice. Ma con un grande talento.
Ho 30 anni e ho sempre disegnato che io ricordi, incoraggiato dai miei genitori con giganteschi fogli attaccati al muro. Sono nato, cresciuto e lavoro a Roma. Nella vita mi occupo di progetto grafico e art direction e, appena posso sedere al tavolo da disegno, mi dedico alle mie illustrazioni… Cosa che ultimamente faccio più consistentemente.
Ho iniziato ispirato graficamente da tante cose, dalle copertine dei dischi rock alle tavole da skate, dai fumetti degli anni ’60 e ’70 alle incisioni popolari, dagli Urania illustrati da Karel Thole alla Divina Commedia illustrata da Dorè… Anche da molti film… Soprattutto vecchi film di fantascienza e Live at Pompei dei Pink Floyd.
Non ho un concetto di “alto e basso” nella cultura grafica, qualsiasi cosa mi stimoli la fantasia con dei mondi lontani è benvenuta, rispettata e riverita a prescindere da dove provenga.
Uso tecniche classiche: pennello, inchiostro di china, pennino e inchiostri colorati, poi finalizzo per la stampa con il computer.
Quando non lavoro mi piace giocare a Dungeons & Dragons, andare in skate, stare con la mia ragazza, suonare, acoltare i vinili, leggere, andare al pub e fare le grigliate con gli amici quando il meteo lo permette.
Ho un gatto abbastanza grasso, ma non amo particolarmente i gatti.
Sono una persona semplice, in conclusione.
Rise Above realizza artwork per tavole da skate, abbigliamento (attualmente in partnership con Bastard Clothing) e per numerose band.
